Where We Play
The SSV Burbank GU13 competes in the Coast Soccer League which is widely considered the most competitive league in Southern California and, perhaps, the nation.
In 2008, CSL will feature over 2,200 teams, over 180 clubs and more than 35,000 players participating in over 15,500 games played on 500 fields throughout the Southern California region. It is the largest youth soccer league of its kind and serves to attract top-shelf talent from San Diego to Santa Barbara.
The image seen on the left best depicts how this structure operates; teams representing clubs play within the CSL (Coast Soccer League), CSL is governed by Cal South, which, in turn uses the guidelines and regulations promulgated by U.S. Youth Soccer, U.S. Soccer and ultimately, FIFA.
Our Team
Our Team
comprises girls (dates of birth between August 1st, 1995 to July 31st, 1996)
that come from all walks of life and locations representing very diverse backgrounds, yet
they share a passion and love for the game of soccer that serves to bond them as
one.
The Team Concept is 'priority one' with our players and their parents and
we measure our success in the way that we develop the players abilities and confidence -
both on and off the field - in the classroom - in character - and in life.
Our approach to this sport is rather unique in the Club Soccer world in that we
operate independently within SSV Burbank Soccer Club, a club that has been in
existence for over 16 years now.
We believe this independent approach better serves the
specific needs of the team and its individual players, rather than that of the entity
(club) itself.
We are NOT about 'turning a profit' or paying one dime to
our directors or trainers. Instead, we
invest 100% into the kids. See Fee Structure.
This methodology has served us quite well as we have attracted some of the best,
young talent from the surrounding communities and we continue to endeavor to
bring together like-minded soccer players and parents who share in that same philosophy.
A 'One Coach, One Team' System
In today's Club scene, it is not uncommon for a club coach to have multiple teams that he or she is responsible for. This primarily stems from the fact that the great majority of club coaches rely on multiple teams for their livelihood. As a result, typical club teams will often-times find that their assigned coach may only attend 20-30% of their actual games. This is somewhat disadvantageous, in our opinion.
At SSV GU13, we firmly believe and adhere to the 'one-coach-one team' system.
Over the long haul, we feel this approach better serves the team and overall development of the individual players.
